Immediately when the calendar hits September, the radio stations and malls are the very first to play tunes of the Christmas festivity. Oh yes!!! Christmas songs are played over and over as if it’s reminding everyone to start decorating their houses and establishments, to save money for gift giving, learn a new yummy Christmas dish and be less grumpy too! Hahaha! But kidding aside, Christmas music is really pleasurable to listen to whether the classical mellows or the modern fast beat songs. They send out the meaning of the Christmas season which is to spread love, forgiveness and care for people. Even our Muslim friends respect the season and some would even put up Christmas lights on their backyards, sing the Christmas songs with us and the kids are also happy to be with their Christian friends for the caroling.

Honestly, I’ve got my own favorite Christmas songs list of all time but as the time passes by, different renditions have been done. You may like the original version but at times you’d like the newer versions even more! Some of the slow songs are turned into upbeats or fast, while some upbeat songs are turned into mellow or slow Christmas songs. Artists are really witty on doing that! It’s not a bad thing anyway because it keeps the music alive up to now, so even the next generations would learn about the songs that could melt the stiff hearts and welcome reconciliation among friends and family members with conflicts. I do believe that music could at least help in healing the soul. Argghhh I’m sorry I’m starting to be a bit emotional!

Anyway, these Christmas songs are commonly used for different purposes.

• Played as backgrounds on a Christmas dinner (Noche Buena) or Christmas party

• Upbeat or Christmas tunes would suit while the Christmas party games are ongoing

• Mellow or slow Christmas songs would suit interpretative dance or role playing especially on church events

• Finally, as Christmas carols too! Yeah not just the kids, but even adults love this seasonal practice very much. Some carolers would come in large group, while here in the Philippines a child would dare to carol alone in exchange of coins or little goodies. Some would bring some portable components while some would just bring guitars and tambourines with them. Some would hike around some neighborhood while some big time carolers would go on vehicles. No doubt, this activity is indeed a Christmas bonding too!

Dianna Krall Christmas Songs

christmas-songs-8

Canadian pianist and singing also had the opportunity to sing her own versions of 12 Christmas tracks. We may be wondering why these artist kept singing over and over, releasing the same songs when it already exist. Yeah we all know that when a singer establishes her or his own fan based, even if a song is already available they would still buy the album released by their idol. As what I have said earlier, some of us might even like the newer versions that the original so it’s still a good risk to take for some artists.
